Bruce W. Fouke, PhD, will deliver the 19th annual American Rock Salt Lecture on Thursday, March 23, 7:30 p.m. in Newton Hall 202 on the SUNY Geneseo campus. The lecture, "3.8 Billion Years of Biomineralization," is free and open to the public; it will also be available via Microsoft teams.

Fouke is the director of the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center and the Ralph E. Grim Professor of Earth Sciences and Environmental Change at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on geobiological studies of life-mineral-water biomineralization interactions in coral reefs, hot springs, the deep subsurface, Roman aqueducts, and the human body.

There will be a free, LIMITED supply of Dr. Fouke's book, "The Art of Yellowstone Science: Mammoth Hot Springs as a Window on the Universe". Dr. Fouke will be available to sign the books after the lecture.
