The Geneseo Literary Forum is proud to host a reading and Q & A with writer Jack Wang on Monday, February 28. This event will be in-person on SUNY Geneseo’s campus in the Doty Tower Room (Doty 300) at 4:30 P.M.

Wang is a 2021 New York State Council on the Arts/New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Fiction. His debut short story collection, We Two Alone, takes readers to 1920s Vancouver where a boy “risks his life to play organized hockey” to 1930s Vienna where “the Consul-General of China attempts to save lives on the night of Kristallnacht” and on to other places and points in world history with characters whose conflicts “[trace] the long arc and evolution of the Chinese immigrant experience.” The collection is the winner of the 2020 Danuta Gleed Literary Award for the best debut collection in English in Canada and a feature on the Canada Reads 2022 longlist. Wang, with his twin brother, also co-authored and illustrated the popular Cozy Classics and Star Wars Epic Yarns children’s board books, in which literary classics and George Lucas’ much-loved films are abridged into “12 words with 12 needle-felted illustrations.”

This event is free and open to the public. Masks are required. For more information, contact Kristen Gentry at gentry@geneseo.edu.
