About this Event
Our seniors have worked very hard to reach this pivotal point in their career and—even as we continue to plan for a well-earned, though delayed, in-person commencement—we don’t want to let an important milestone like graduation day go unrecognized.
To help our graduates celebrate, Geneseo will launch an online Senior Send-Off—a multimedia tribute to the Class of 2020. Although current circumstances prevent us from gathering to honor the class in person, we will come together to celebrate their achievements online and offer our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.
The Senior Send-Off commemoration site will open on May 16 at 10 a.m., when the first commencement ceremony would have taken place. The site will include brief video messages from President Denise A. Battles, keynote speaker Leo M. Lambert ’76, SA president Adam Hansen, alum Joseph Carr, and other distinguished guests. In addition, video clips from each academic department will let graduates connect with faculty members in their major.
This online tribute also will include personal messages and congratulations from friends, family, and alumni all over the world—and for that, we’d appreciate your help. If you would like to participate by sharing your best wishes, please visit the 20 for '20 Project submission form, where you can post a 20-word message, a 20-second video, or a photo in honor of our graduating seniors and their accomplishments.
An extraordinary year deserves an extraordinary send-off, and your participation will help us honor the Class of 2020. If you have questions about the Senior Send-Off, please contact me at klein@geneseo.edu or 585-245-5786.
Planning is underway to reschedule a future in-person commencement, pending guidance from SUNY, the state, and the CDC, and we will share details on those events here as soon as they’re available.
