Take Back the Night 5K
Take Back the Night (TBTN) is a global event that will allow members of the Geneseo campus and surrounding community to unite and raise awareness about the prevalence of sexual violence.
This year's TBTN will feature a 5k walk/run through campus and surrounding area and conclude with a rally and candle-light vigil. The rally features a keynote speaker and student performances. The rally is a way for survivors to share their experiences in a safe and supportive space.
Katie Flaherty, Founder and President of Shine with Courage Foundation, will serve as keynote speaker for the event.
As Mrs. Onondaga County America, she has broken the silence and shame surrounding women health issues. As an advocate for women, she partners with healthcare professionals, leads a mentorship program and celebrates young girls' lives moving into womanhood. She provides motivation and council to those suffering to give them strength and confidence to overcome their fears.
As a survivor, she knows firsthand the pain and agony that women go through. Her mission is to empower young girls and women within their bodies, giving them the courage to shine.
All attendees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing throughout the event. Click here to register.
