Representatives from Apple Computers' Educational Division will be joining us Wednesday, November 12th. Join us in Milne Multipurpose Room A for any or all of three guided conversations:

  • 12-1pm: Teaching & Classroom Technology
  • 1-2pm: Academic Research
  • 2-3pm: Accessibility and Inclusive Learning

Description provided by Apple:

We’re excited to invite you to participate in one of three upcoming faculty and staff workshops designed to help you enhance productivity, creativity, and innovation using iPad.

Each workshop is designed to be hands-on and practical, providing tools and strategies that you can apply immediately in your teaching, research, and student engagement. Apple will be providing iPads, keyboards and Apple Pencils for use during the workshops.

Each session focuses on practical applications tailored to different areas of academic life, from teaching and research to accessibility and inclusive learning.

Workshop 1: Teaching and Classroom Technology (12-1pm)

This session will focus on leveraging iPad to create engaging, media-rich learning experiences. Attendees will learn how to:

  • Present from an iPad with precision and flexibility, using updated gesture controls, file management, and stage manager multitasking.
  • Integrate handwriting recognition and math conversion tools to capture and annotate equations and formulas digitally.
  • Capture and share artifacts and physical classroom spaces in three dimensions, incorporating Object Capture and Spatial Video tools.
  • Work with specialty document formats such as musical scores, theatrical scripts, and concept maps, using discipline-specific apps optimized for Apple Pencil and the new Smart Script feature.

Workshop 2: Academic Research (1-2pm)

This session is designed for researchers seeking to streamline data collection, collaboration, and analysis through iPad’s evolving ecosystem. Attendees will explore how to:

  • Use Apple Intelligence for data gathering, mapping, and sharing, integrating with apps that support 3D modeling, field documentation, and collaborative annotation.
  • Employ Apple Intelligence for research synthesis, language refinement, and automated document summarization — helping transform data into publication-ready materials.
  • Capture spatial data and visual materials with 3D scanning and LiDAR integration, then manipulate and share these in research teams.
  • Utilize continuity features to maintain synchronized workflows across devices for writing, note-taking, and presentation preparation.

Workshop 3: Accessibility and Inclusive Learning (2-3pm)

This session explores how the newest accessibility tools on iPad can foster inclusion and equitable learning environments. Participants will learn how to:

  • Apply Apple Intelligence to support diverse learners through adaptive writing assistance, personalized content presentation, and intelligent note summarization.
  • Utilize enhanced handwriting, dictation, and voice control tools to support different modes of learning and expression.
  • Incorporate media creation — including live video and animation — as accessible alternatives to text-based assessment.
  • Present content using Live Captions, Speak Screen, and AssistiveTouch, ensuring full engagement for all students.

Each workshop provides an opportunity to explore not only the latest iPad capabilities but also how Apple’s ecosystem supports creativity, critical inquiry, and inclusive pedagogy.
