About this Event
This TLC Watch Party is an opportunity to gather in the same physical space to watch this highly relevant virtual presentation together. We will have time at the end to discuss implications specific to Geneseo, and connect with colleagues who are doing research and campus projects in these areas.
If you come to this in-person Watch Party, you do not have to register for the event using the link below. You may still wish to register, however, so that you receive the recording link afterwards.
Light refreshments will be provided.
About the presentation:
"Navigating Generative AI’s Ethical Challenges in Higher Education"
AI developments pose new ethical challenges with each new tool released. It can be challenging to keep track of generative AI's capabilities from one week to the next. This session will help faculty and staff navigate the ethical landscape with both curiosity and guarded skepticism and offer practical tips for helping students understand how AI impacts learning.
Join AI Cross-Campus Communities of Practice, an initiative funded by the SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant (IITG), for this talk by our keynote speaker, Marc Watkins.
Watkins is Assistant Director of Academic Innovation, Director of the Mississippi AI Institute, and Lecturer of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi. He trains faculty in AI literacy. You can view recent columns he has written about the pragmatics of AI in higher ed for the Chronicle of Higher Education.
All SUNY faculty and staff are welcome to attend this talk. A recording will be sent out to all registrants after the event.
