In this talk, Professor Nahid Siamdoust will review iconic moments, photographs, and cultural products arising from Iran’s current uprising and discuss the socio-political particularities of this protest movement.

Bio: Nahid Siamdoust is an Assistant Professor in Middle East and Media Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is also a member of the Provost’s Cluster in Global Media Flows and (Dis)Information. She is the author of “Soundtrack of the Revolution: The Politics of Music in Iran” (2017). Previously she was a Middle East based journalist for Der Spiegel, TIME Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, and Al Jazeera English TV.
